Asoka Rasa – Gading Serpong, Tangerang

Holiday season brings another blessing and incomes especially for restaurants whatever and whenever they are. At first, I wanted to have my dinner at Bhinneka Padang restaurant Palem Semi, Karawaci. However, due to Eid-Mubarak holiday, it was closed. So, I came up with another seafood restaurant at Gading Serpong as it had abundant seafood restaurants scattered everywhere. 

During holidays, you will find any public spots full of tremendous crowd no matter what you want to do such as go shopping, watching movies and even having a meal at restaurants or other food stalls. Luckily, this restaurant is not as crowded as imagined.


It has both indoor and outdoor tables for the visitors to choose. If you want to enjoy your meal with the AC on, you had better get inside. But, for those who want to feel the breezy wind just like at the beach, having the meal outdoor will be somewhat new. After looking at the menus for a couple of minutes, here are the top picks:

  • Ikan Kuwe Bakar Kecap (Grilled Trevally with Soy Sauce)
  • Cumi Goreng Tepung (Crispy Fried Calamari)
  • Ayam Goreng Kering (Dry-Fried Chicken)
  • Pakis Cah Ebi (Fiddlehead and Dried Prawn Stir Fry)
  • Sapo Tahu (Chinese Stir-Fried Vegetables with Tofu)
  • 6 bowls of white rice
  • 2 glasses of iced tea
  • 1 glass of hot tea


In Indonesian style, sliced lime fruit is usually added into the dish, creating another sourly taste. As I ordered 7-ounce trevally fish, this is the way it looks. Fit from 4 up to 5 people. Most importantly, both its tender texture and delicious taste are somewhat you can not easily forget of. Having a bowl of chili is the way Indonesians eat grilled fish – and it is truly a hit, believe me.


I believe this medium-sized calamari makes you want to break your fast as soon as possible, huh? Its crispiness salty taste will never disappoint you. And you will find it so true after grabbing a small bite. All you can sense is the ultimate flavor of calamari wrapped in the yellowish salty seasoning. Magnificent!


Fried chicken, no matter how it is cooked, will always be number one menu in Indonesia as its succulent and juicy texture is quite blowing your mind away. Besides, its salty flavor standing out from the dish is appetite-increasing. I suggest for those who are chicken or meat lovers, trying this dish makes your culinary experience more colorful.


At first, it is like sauteed water-spinach. But it is actually another type of vegetable that perhaps is not really familiar with Indonesians. Looking at its spiral and tiny shape, it is pretty cute and quite instagrammable. The taste? Definitely scrumptious and spicy as there is shredded chili within the dish.


Wanting some mouth-watering vegetable cuisine? This is Chinese style tofu with mixed vegetables that is definitely healthy and fat-free. So, for those who are on diet, never be afraid of gaining an ounce while having this. The tofu itself is a kind of Japanese one as it has been popular in Chinese cuisine.

Here comes the score from what I have as my lovely dinner during holiday season:

For the trevally fish, it costs IDR 119.000,- followed by another dish fried calamari that is worth IDR 85.000,-. Both dry-fried chicken and fiddlehead stir fry cost IDR 65.000,- each. Meanwhile, Chinese style tofu dish is IDR 75.000,-. It sounds pricey, but it is all worth it considering the exquisite taste in Tangerang.

At this restaurant, a bowl of white rice is worth IDR 5.000,-. Meanwhile, the price of beverages is varied slightly. The iced tea itself costs IDR 6.000,- and for the hot tea is only IDR 2.000,-.
